Dr Alison Cooper
I have a PhD in Cognitive Neuropsychology with also have a background in Biological Neuroscience and a Diploma in Science Communication. This website gives a snapshot of some of my engagement activities and content that I have developed.
I have substantial professional experience in research management, working internationally and running a national partnership grant funded by UK Research and Innovation. I apply a range of project management techniques to content development. I have a good understanding of research funding, priorities and impact, and currently work fully independently so can offer a different dimension taking into account multiple stakeholders.
I am able to tackle creative, practical technical aspects in equal measure. I have recently upgraded my IT so that it is fully portable with access to relevant specialist software, and all data is backed up and stored securely.
Just to note to clarify expectations, I an NOT a presenter, so I do not give talks online and in person, make recordings or use images of myself. Occasionally I have used my own voice to provide audio links or in interviews but I aim to avoid this as much as possible as it distracts from the content.
I am registered as a sole trader and provide invoices, working to agreed project specifications, budgets and timelines. I have public liability insurance to cover workshops and can produce risk assessments with consideration of the location requirements. I have experience working in prestige, heritage, academic, community and outdoor locations.
My other activities include renovating a 150 year old house and dance from around the world.
